I recently picked up the series <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmetropolitan">Transmetropolitan written by Warren Ellis and penciled by Darick Robertson. The story revolves around manic Spider Jerusalem and his employment as a gonzo journalist in an homage to Hunter S. Thompson. That is, Spider blends fact and fiction into a shockingly real first person narrative. It’s gritty, obscene, and is surprisingly relevant in regards with today’s political landscape.

Transmetropolitan ran from 1997 – 2002 for 60 issues plus a couple specials. You can also download the first issue for free.

I’m quite a big fan of the cyberpunk genre and really enjoyed this title. It owes a lot in both sentiment and art style to Frank Miller’s Hard Boiled, another cpunk classic. Heck, check out the two dogs below. The left is a featured character in Transmet and the right is a detail from Hard Boiled.
